Total Access Ltd erected this 9m x 9m birdcage over this retail area inside Auckland Airport to enable Hawkins Construction to install skylights above the International Departure Lounge.
In order to keep the ground clear, the birdcage was supported by only four heavy duty legs constructed of four Layher Allround standards joined by twin wedge couplers. The 9m span is achieved using Layher Allround diagonal braces and access was provided by aluminium platform stairs.
The birdcage solution meant minimal disruption for the airport retail outlets and main pedestrian thoroughfare.
