Total Access recently erected a 30m by 40m birdcage scaffold for Hawkins Construction at the Auckland International Airport expansion project. The $30m development of the new departures area includes construction of new landside facilities, new emigration facilities with associated offices for Joint Border Agencies.
The 844m sq scaffold platform was built using thirty-five 6m lattice girders and multiple cantilevered bays which allowed sub contractors to work overhead to install detailed steel beams and roof structure strengthening to accomodate a new ceiling feature. All this work could be carried out while providing uninterrupted safe public access to departure gates.
