Layher Chile recently designed an enormous 20m high temporary structure as a truck maintenance shop for a copper mine. The truck shop, which needs to be moved every 3-5 years as mining progresses, is designed to house Caterpillar mining trucks which weigh 623 tonnes each (and cost a mere US$3.4m each).
Layher provided a solution using the Layher cassette roof system with an Allround substructure providing entrances for eight megatrucks. To provide a structure of sufficient size, 200t of cassette roof and 400t of Layher Allround were used, with the scaffolds being preassembled and craned into position. The structure was designed for a snow load of 62.5kg/m² and for winds up to 160kph by setting the base standards in concrete footing.
Thank you to Layher Chile for the use of these photos.
