Advanced Guardrail System
Safer Scaffolding. Smarter Installation.
The Layher Advanced Guardrail System (AGS) is designed to improve safety during scaffold erection by allowing guardrails to be installed from the level below before the installer steps onto the next lift.
By creating edge protection earlier in the assembly process, AGS significantly reduces fall risks during scaffold erection and dismantling.
Fully compatible with the Layher Allround Scaffolding System, AGS integrates seamlessly into standard scaffold configurations without slowing down installation. The result is a faster, safer and more efficient scaffold erection process.
Unlike the traditional methodology of the ‘1m rule’ or using fall restraint as a primary measure, the AGS addresses the risk of working at heights for scaffolders on facades, towers and birdcages.

Build safer with Layher.
Site safety begins with the appropriate system. The Layher Advanced Guardrail System enables scaffolders build faster while maintaining a safer environment. It also provides safety benefits for other trades working from the scaffold.
The AGS Standard offers the same load-bearing capacity as the Allround Standard LW 2.00 m, ensuring structural performance remains unchanged while improving installation safety. Guardrails can be installed completely without tools, thanks to the integrated red securing bar, allowing quick and secure installation during scaffold erection.
The guardrail’s innovative connection contour allows the lightweight guardrail to be inserted into the closed guardrail connection of the AGS standard from the level below, connected to the next AGS standard, and then swung upward into position to create edge protection.
Additional components are available to complement the AGS system, enabling it to be used as part of facade scaffolding configurations within Layher Allround, while maintaining the flexibility and modularity expected from Layher systems.
Key Benefits:
Safer Installation Process
Guardrails are installed from the level below, reducing fall risk during erection.
Collective Fall Protection
Protection is already in place when moving onto the next lift.
Fast and efficient installation
Lightweight components and tool-free connections keep productivity high.
Fully integrated
Designed to work directly with the Layher Allround Scaffolding System.
How the AGS system works
With the Advanced Guardrail System, scaffolders install the guardrail while standing on the completed level below. This means that when the installer moves to the next level, edge protection is already in place.
The lightweight guardrail is inserted into the closed guardrail connection of the AGS standard from the level underneath. It is then connected to the next AGS standard and swung upwards into position, creating immediate edge protection before the installer accesses the next lift.
Because AGS components are designed for quick connection into the Layher system, the erection process remains efficient, practical and safe for everyday site use.
- Safer installation process – Guardrails are installed from the level below, reducing fall risk during erection

- Fully integrated – Designed to work directly with the Layher Allround system
- Reliable and compliant – with AS/NZS 1576.1 and AS 4576 safety standards.

Layher Supporting community safety
Safety does not stop at construction sites.
Layher Australia is proud to support the work of the Touched by Christopher Foundation, a charity dedicated to improving safety in public spaces and raising awareness around preventable accidents.
As part of this collaboration, Layher has committed to supporting the foundation through the Layher Advanced Guardrail System (AGS) initiative. A portion of every AGS sale or rental will be donated to the Touched by Christopher Foundation, helping fund their work in education, community awareness and safety advocacy. By linking this safety-focused system directly to the foundation, every AGS installation contributes to a broader purpose, helping create safer environments not only on construction sites but also within the communities we live and work in.
At Layher, engineering innovation and safety go hand in hand. Through partnerships like this, we aim to ensure that better safety systems also help drive positive change beyond the job site.
