Jamie Robertson
Senior Field Engineer
Originally from Manchester in the UK and now based in Melbourne, Jamie brings more than 35 years of scaffolding industry experience and a unique combination of hands-on site knowledge and engineering expertise to Layher Australia.
Jamie began working in the scaffolding industry while still at school, spending weekends in a scaffold yard before being sponsored by Palmers Scaffolding to undertake specialist training in scaffolding and civil engineering. By the age of 19, he had qualified as an Advanced Scaffolder and went on to spend almost 17 years working on site and leading scaffolding teams.
During his years on the tools, Jamie worked across a wide variety of projects, specialising particularly in temporary roof structures and the refurbishment of Grade I listed buildings, churches and cathedrals throughout the UK.
In 2000, Jamie returned to education with the support of Lyndon Scaffolding and subsequently graduated with First Class Honours in Civil Engineering, specialising in structures. He moved into design engineering and further expanded his technical qualifications by becoming an Advanced Scaffolding Inspector in 2010.
After relocating to Australia, Jamie continued working remotely for Lyndon Scaffolding and later LyndonSGB by BrandSafway for eight years before moving into an Engineering Manager role with a Melbourne-based company. In 2025, he joined Layher Australia as Senior Field Engineer.
Jamie's extensive practical scaffolding background gives him a valuable perspective as an engineer. He understands not only how a solution works on paper, but how it needs to be assembled and perform on site, with a strong focus on practical, safe and buildable engineering solutions.
Outside of work, Jamie enjoys off-grid camping in his camper, gardening, discovering good food, keeping fit at the gym and skiing, a sport he has enjoyed since his early twenties.

Rey brings extensive structural engineering experience from the heavy industrial sector and over eight years with Layher, specialising in the design and analysis of safe, practical and efficient scaffold solutions for complex industrial, infrastructure and construction projects.
Rey Dadula
Design Engineer
Rey brings extensive structural engineering experience to Layher, with a background spanning heavy industrial design and more than eight years specialising in scaffold engineering.
Before moving to Australia, Rey worked with EPCM companies delivering steel and concrete structural designs for oil and gas refineries, chemical plants and other heavy industrial facilities. This experience provided a strong foundation in structural analysis and the engineering demands of complex industrial environments.
Based at Layher’s Sydney branch, Rey specialises in scaffold design and structural analysis across industrial, infrastructure and construction projects. His focus is on developing solutions that balance engineering requirements with the practical realities of site, ensuring designs are safe, efficient and buildable.
One of Rey's most rewarding projects was designing a hung scaffold for the refurbishment of the bulk-loading shipping galleries at a jetty in South Australia. The project presented significant challenges, including structural load limitations, long truss spans, clearance constraints, component restrictions and a demanding construction schedule.
By applying suspended bridge theory and detailed structural analysis, Rey developed an efficient solution that met both the technical and operational requirements of the project.
Rey holds a Graduate Certificate in Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is a Chartered Professional Engineer (MIEAust CPEng NER).
Outside of work, Rey enjoys travelling with his family, experiencing different cultures and discovering local cuisines along the way.

Gabriel specialises in temporary works and scaffold design across construction, mining and industrial projects. With a strong interest in digital engineering, he combines practical experience with 3D point-cloud scanning to solve complex project challenges.
Gabriel Padilla
Design Engineer
Gabriel is a Civil Engineer specialising in temporary works and scaffold design, with experience across the construction, mining and industrial sectors. Based at Layher Australia’s Queensland branch, Gabriel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering at the University of Sydney.
Before joining Layher Australia in 2025, Gabriel worked as both a Design Engineer and Sales Engineer within the scaffolding industry. While relatively new to the Layher Australia team, he has been working with Layher systems since 2021, giving him several years of practical experience with their application across a variety of projects.
Gabriel particularly enjoys technically challenging projects where detailed engineering and digital technology can work together. One of his favourite projects at Layher has been the design of a complex industrial scaffold for a Coal Terminal in North Queensland.
The project involved some of the most detailed scaffold drawings Gabriel has produced and incorporated 3D point-cloud scanning to accurately design around complex existing industrial structures. This technology helped identify and avoid potential clashes and interferences before construction, an important consideration in demanding industrial environments.
Gabriel enjoys combining engineering knowledge, detailed design and emerging technology to develop practical temporary works solutions that can be successfully implemented on site.
Outside of work, Gabriel enjoys keeping fit and reading, particularly books focused on personal and professional development.
